Additional notes for Class 2

  • Spellings will be given on Mondays. Test will be on Fridays.
  • Year 2 children will receive a list of words which focus on a specific spelling pattern or high frequency words.  Learning a few of these each night, building up to a revision of the whole list by the end of the week can be beneficial.
  • Year 3 children will be given a variety of words from the high frequency list or more complex spelling patterns or similar sounding words etc.  For each of these they will be expected to write some sentences both using and spelling the words correctly.
  • There will usually be one piece of Numeracy homework each week.
  • Please continue to hear your child read regularly, talk with them about their reading and read to them regularly.  Listening to stories gives children access to literature which they are not quite able to read for themselves but can enjoy and understand when read to them.  It also feeds their imagination and builds their vocabulary.
