  • Homework will not, in general be used to finish off work started in class.

Spelling Help
Words which we use in our language many times are known as high frequency words.
Strategies are essential for practising high frequency words, most of which contain awkward, irregular letter patterns.
See separate sheets for help with different strategies.
The words can then be practised using

Additional notes for Class 3

  • Homework will be given out on a Wednesday.  It is due in the following Wednesday.  A Spelling Test will take place every Friday and new spellings will be given after the test.  Children are to complete spelling sentences and these are due in on a Thursday.
  • Please continue to hear your child read regularly, talk with them about their reading, read to them regularly. Listening to stories gives children access to literature which they are not quite able to read for themselves but can enjoy and understand when read to them.  It also feeds their imagination and builds their vocabulary.
  • Help is always appreciated at school.  If there are any parents who are willing and able to come into Class 3 and listen to children read, preferably in the afternoon.  Please could you let the teacher know of your availability.
